BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Louise Capps Scranton, born October 21, 1912, in Jacksonville, Illinois, died November 26, 2003 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a niece of Edward Capps, Chair of the ASCSA Managing Director (1918-1939) and Acting Director in 1935-1936. Louise worked in the Records of the Athenian Agora Excavations in 1935-1937. In Athens she met her future husband, Robert Lorenz Scranton (1912-1993), whom she married in 1937. Robert taught art history at Emory University and at the University of Chicago. In Greece he excavated the ancient port of Kenchreai near Corinth.
